SINCE THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF COMPLIMENTS ARE VERBAL, THIS IS ONLY A
SMALL SAMPLE. VERIFYING
MATERIALS ON FILE ** RECOGNITION
OF THE
ANIMAL BEHAVIOR
SKILLS *
Colorado State University Veterinary School has behaviorists on faculty.
Despite substantial costs,
they had Dr. Fetko conduct the first Applied Animal Behavior presentations to
their freshman and
graduating senior classes. He was
paid, highly acclaimed, and
invited back. *
Dr. Fetko has taught Animal Behavior at the National Animal Control
Association's official NACA 100 academy since its inception.
Officers who successfully complete it are granted credits at the
University of Missouri. He is
consistently chosen top presenter. *
Three University of California campuses requested Dr. Fetko to conduct
Animal Behavior classes. He did so
at San Diego and
Riverside, was paid, and
was invited back. *
San Diego State University asked Dr. Fetko to present a "Topics in
Veterinary Medicine" class. He
received very complimentary responses and
was asked to return. *
The California Animal Control Directors Association repeatedly had Dr.
Fetko present Animal Behavior and
Bite Prevention Safety at several annual conferences.
He was paid and
always asked to return. *
The Zoological Society of San Diego has credentialled animal behaviorists
on staff but asked Dr. Fetko to testify on their behalf before a California
State Senate Hearing. The Chair
Senator called his input the clearest, most lucid and
most valuable and
said "this man should have opened our hearings."
*
The Zoological Society of San Diego recommended Dr. Fetko to manage the
Saudi Arabian National Wildlife Research Center when it shipped captive bred
Arabian Oryx to Saudi Arabia for reintroduction. *
The California Veterinary Medical Association had Dr. Fetko present an
Animal Behavior session at their annual conference.
He received very complimentary reviews. *
Noted veterinarian, behaviorist and
author Dr. Michael W. Fox wrote very complimentary comments on Dr. Fetko's 1981
doctoral thesis, "Pet Facilitated Therapy." *
Dr. Randall Lockwood, behaviorist and
Humane Society of the United States Vice President, requested Dr. Fetko's
assistance with the Justin McCarthy case, the largest animal abuse case in the
country. Thanks to Dr. Fetko, Mr.
McCarthy was convicted. *
After hearing many behaviorists, the American Animal Protection Institute
invited Dr. Fetko to join their National Advisory Board as their behaviorist. *
Despite familiarizing themselves with several behaviorists and
the tremendous cost to do so, the New Zealand Dog Control Conference brought Dr.
Fetko in to conduct Animal Behavior and
Bite Safety programs at their conference. He
was paid, given rave reviews, and brought back. *
At great expense, Dr. Fetko was brought to Brazil to address the first
Animal Welfare Congress ever held in that country.
He was then brought back to address the South American Veterinary
Congress, and received rave reviews. He
has been invited back for a third visit. *
When San Diego Children's Hospital And Health Center decided to add a
Canine Care Therapy program to its renowned facility, they asked Dr. Fetko to
design the comportment, behavioral, and
qualifying temperament evaluation aspects of it.
The program is a raging success; there has not been a single negative dog
event since its inception, and
he was granted the coveted Volunteer Of The Year award. *
Numerous Departments of Animal Control and
Humane Societies across several countries use Dr. Fetko's temperament evaluation
with great success. His evaluation
methods have proven accurate over decades. *
Various kennel clubs, law enforcement agencies, canine search and
rescue units, breed clubs, service dog organizations, and
other sophisticated handlers and
trainers add to Dr. Fetko's impressive portfolio and
accolades. *
So many local, regional and
national animal organizations asked Dr. Fetko to present his Field Officer Bite
Safety program that he rendered it to video/print format in 1987.
The program is now used in at least forty-two states and
six countries. *
There is documented evidence that Dr. Fetko's methods of handling and
evaluation have produced marked dog bite decreases. *
Dr. Fetko has repeatedly qualified in criminal and
civil courts as an expert on animal behavior, including in capital cases. *
The major portion of Dr. Fetko's clients are professional referrals. *
Dr. Fetko has directly handled over 100,000 animals in his decades-long
full time training and
behavioral career. Comments
on Dr. Dennis Fetko "On a number of occasions
you have taken the time to outline and explain psychological aspects of dog behavior that have been valuable
to me and my staff in our dealings with
dogs here at the clinic...without exception, your advice and recommendations have been accurate, successful and willingly given. Our discussions
have led me to firmly believe that information on the behavioral and psychological make-up of dogs is lacking and such knowledge would be beneficial to all those who must work with
dogs." A.N., DVM "I'd
like to commend you on your work...I'm personally excited about your
field...such a professional approach to behavior modification and dog training has been sorely lacking."
J.M., DVM "The guest speakers were all
good, but DR. DOG has it hands down. That man taught me more in an hour and a half about dogs and humans communicating than I've learned in 26 years. He was incredible!
I could have sat there for hours and listened to him. After class
that night I wanted to go out and buy a dog. As a speaker, he is
one of the best I've ever heard. You never knew what to expect from him
next."
M.F. "I learned something about
my dog by listening to DR. DOG. I always wondered why the dog seemed intimidated
by me....now I understand that my posture was sending one signal and my tone of voice was sending a totally different message. I no longer
stand over my dog....the dog's behavior is now more relaxed."
T.B. "The speaker, DR. DOG, was a
real treat. He was very well spoken and quite an interesting person to
listen to. It was too bad he couldn't have had more time. I really got a wealth
of information from him on communications and I know there must be a lot
more."
M.G. "We
are still amazed by all we have learned in the past weeks...Thank you for caring
enough to have developed such a program."
